It's Christmas!!

Okay - so it's actually Dec 27th, and there are still 364 shopping days until next Christmas!!
However, I didn't want to wait that long before making the point that, without the "Christ", we are left with a meaningless "mas". And, when we take the Christ out of Christmas, then all we are left with is a meaningless round of consumerism and debt; of binge-drinking and gluttony; of waste and excess in so many different areas of life.
That's the "developed" world's idea of christmas (the lack of a capital letter isn't a typo!), but is a trillion miles away from the reality of the Creator God, taking upon Himself human flesh, and being born of a human female, in an animal shelter, unrecognised and rejected by all but a few.
Maybe it is time for a "Winterval", or "Winterfest", for the world so that those of us who wish to concentrate on celebrating the birth of the Saviour may do so without all of the trappings of the commercial season. By the way, you do realise that "Santa" is an anagram of "satan"?? Why can't Christians have a shepherd bringing gifts for the children at our church party? It would at least have some sort of Biblical connection!!
We've got almost a year (if the Rapture tarries!) to get the message to our churches and Christian friends.
Let's do it!
Be blessed.
